Hi! My name is Ben Ward, husband to Nici Ward and father to Kit Ward (1) and Sonny Ward (4). I've signed up to do the Gibb River Postie bike challenge for a few reasons....
I have two healthy baby boys of my own and can't help but imagine what people go through when their children have health issues.
I for one am more than happy to put my hand in my pocket for sick kids, the research and development needed to ensure we're heading in the right direction is ongoing. On average three Australian children die from cancer each week, I thought Bright Blue would be a great cause to get behind.
I saw this challenge on facebook and couldn't resist. I went around Australia with Nici before the boys were born and we skipped the gibb river road. At the time I think we had too much to see and not enough time to check it out!
I really regret not hitting the road as it's something I've wanted to do for ages. So now is my chance.
I got my bike licence when I was living in Melbourne and had planned trip around Tasmania with two good friends of mine. Then we heard Sonny was on the way! So I sold the bike to focus on being a dad and all that comes with it.
My boys are old enough now that I can head off for a bit to take on the challenge. It's a nice feeling having been through the pregnancy and birth with Nici. All with an interstate move from Melbourne to Perth in the mix. Now we can take on new challenges!
So please donate to my cause and feel good about doing it.
I know money is hard to come by theses days, so every dollar will be greatly appreciated!
I promise to reward you with great photos of the trip, $4000 is a lot to ask, so get donating people!
Thanks for taking the time to read this!
